Part of Cheryse McLeod Lewis' personal mission as a professional classical singer is to share the beauty of classical music with as many people as possible. To that end, she enjoys performing recitals and concerts that feature a wide variety of classical music with the hope of exposing a broad audience to this beautiful art form. A Celebration Recital Commemorating Black History Month

About the Program
This recital will feature spirituals and art songs that celebrate Black History Month. Rhiannon Giddens (soprano), Cheryse McLeod Lewis (mezzo-soprano), and Laura Moore (pianist) will perform this stirring and uplifting program. Featured pieces include Martin Luther King, Jr.'s beautiful "I Have A Dream" speech set to music by Lee Hoiby, "Three Dream Portraits" by Margaret Bonds, "Cantata" by John Carter, and many familiar Negro Spirituals. Don't miss this wonderful celebration of Black History through music!!
